The Family Theatre Project Toolkit has been completed
We are pleased to announce that the Family Theatre Project Toolkit — Családi Színházi Eszköztár — has been completed and is now freely available to all interested audiences both in English and in Hungarian.
The Family Theatre Project is an international collaboration supported by the European Union, bringing together theatre organizations from four countries — Italy, Croatia, Ireland, and Hungary — including InSite Drama. The aim of the project was to develop and test an innovative form of theatre specifically designed to engage families.

The toolkit itself addresses the project’s core questions: how to create theatre performances that are relevant and engaging for families, that actively involve them, and that offer a genuine shared experience. These performances are intended to support collective thinking, foster dialogue between generations, and enhance mutual understanding.
The Role of the Toolkit
The newly completed toolkit is one of the project’s key outcomes. Its purpose is to provide guidance for theatre professionals and creators on how to develop performances that engage families, involve them meaningfully, and offer real value to them. It also aims to contribute to defining the key characteristics and quality standards of family theatre as a distinct form of performance.
The publication is based on research, workshops, and international knowledge exchange carried out during the project. It offers methodological approaches that support the creation of a safe and inclusive space for families, as well as the equal participation of different generations in the artistic experience.
The goal of the toolkit is not only to provide methodological support, but also to help build a European professional community that, in the long term, strengthens a creative approach capable of opening new pathways toward shared experiences across generations.
